Late Junction Thurs 2 June alert

    I only just saw this!

    11.00 Late Junction
Verity Sharp celebrates the marriage of drummer Seb Rochford and saxophonist Matana Roberts with an unsual collaboration session. Rochford and Roberts, each a leading experimental musician, had previously said they would not have any shared public projects.

This is total news to me!

I don't remember any mention of this liaison between the one with the hairstack and the one from Chicago we've championed on here in the past on any recent programme. They managed to keep that one quiet then! I wonder who's moving where: Matana has said how much she loves the appreciation she gets here from audiences and fellow musicians from here she's worked with, but my guess would be that Seb, like fellow F-Ire Collectivist Ingrid Laubrock did, will move across the Pond.

Thought I heart Soweto mention something about Seb Rochford on this weeks Jazz Now - but couldn't find any reference to it in the programme details for next week.

Programme details done way ahead. Soweto did mention it, and LJ agreed to let us have some of the music very recently. Always worth listening to the show rather than just relying on programme details!

Thanks for link. Matana is an interesting musician, and I look forward to hearing her again on Jazz Now, before passing judgement.
