it is all the fault of that Schopenhauer chap innit ..... all their will and we got no representation ...

if i thought that it was at all possible that the opera could be displaced because a three hour gig by Mostly Other People Do The Killing was being broadcast i would not get grumpy but since this is a certain impossibility i am totally grumpy with you OG ...

Would Radio 3 ever contemplate cancelling a regular classical programme to make way for a live jazz concert?

Jazz fans, once again, treated with contempt by the BBC.

I particularly like the third comment, on the definition of "real" jazz:
In my Socialist Paradise anyone found listening to anything else will be re-educated and then made to denounce something by Archie Shepp that they’ve never heard.

Cuts is cuts is cuts and we gotta put up with them else Flashman will send the PLOD round to cause us mayhem and digitise our existences ...

                mustn't complain eh ......

that Jacques Loussier he had bourgeois tendencies [not so sure about Archie Shepp but Adorno wouldn't like him]

Flashman Likes Wagner ... it orchestrates his moods and the philosophy of totalism is well suited to CUTS innit

I like Wagner too, but I don't like Flashman.

It was not only JRR that was cancelled , we only got the second half of the late night instalment of JL. I was looking forward to this as the first part of Australian Jazz was very interesting.

Given that the primary law of R3 management is that everything must give way for Grand Opera, I will not waste my time complaining. I found the Eurovision Song Contest far more entertaining.

But having a suspicious mind, I'm just wondering whether this is a kick in the teeth for Jazz, in view of the recent Sony Radio Award to Jazz on 3/ Jez Nelson?

well you might very well think so oddball but it has been so for decades ..... and besides jazz fits the thompson doctrine, a legitimating minority interest catered for by the 360 multiplatform; never mind the Sony, R3 is amateur these days in dealing with Jazz as a station ... compare NPR's output on the web and platform of stations across the USA ..... 24/7 jazz in major cities ...
