Helen Merrill/Gil Evans 'Collaboration' album.

I didn't know this album existed (rec 1987) marvellous updated arrangements by Gil and though i'm normally not a big fan of female vocalists - unless its Billie or Betty Carter. Helen though sings beautifully, and Steve Lacy guests on 'Summertime'

JR - Glad you enjoyed the album sad you had to pay £20. I got my copy a couple of weeks ago for £8.25 inc pp but having said that I would have paid 20 quid for it.

Incidentally really liked the Paul Bley 'In walked Bud'

I've been reading the Mingus biography, "Myself when I am real" (Gene Santoro), which has a mass of information but in need of a good editor. Anyway, one interesting fact, Mingus designed a cat toilet which fitted over the usual toilet and worked! He later put it in a
Catalogue (sic) of Mingus products.
