    Gosh! That was nasty shock seeing Katie Derham. I'm not sure what she has to do with jazz!

      Intriguing wasn't it..........they might have sold it to her on world music grounds but even so!

      I enjoyed both these programmes. They were repeats but I hadn't seen either of them before.

        Katie Derham seems to be everywhere on Radio 3 at the moment - she'll probably be presenting JRR next!

            I was just expressing my worst fears about KD's expanding presence on R3!

                I'm not too bothered by Kurt Rosenwinkel's original tunes, but he kills it over standards, every time.

                        JR I just picked up that CD really pleased to get them on CD at last, Denardo was always a controversial choice for the band but I liked his work - does he still play?

                        My playlist for today;

                        Albert Ayler/Don Cherry quartet "Copenhagen Live 1964"

                        Hank Mobley To one so sweet stay that way- In Holland 1968 - Lovely late period Hank with Dutch rhythm sections.

                                The Mingus/Dolphy duet was described by Raymond Horricks as "an instrumental equivalent of the Muppet Show. Several minutes of mischief; an absolutely hilarious and spellbinding chit-chat between Dolphy and his leader".
