    Got out for later!
Got that second hand for sick squid coupled with the Messengers' "Caravan" (originally Riverside - my teenage copy was well worn out) from a famous London record shop a few months back. I won't be Foyled again!

I'm told it's very unlucky not to close brackets, so I've closed that one for you, Stanford.

Who said Prez's post-war playing was inferior?

By coincidence, Christ Biscoe made "Three Little Words" the last tune in his afternoon gig in Croydon on Sunday. "He's been practising", Sue Biscoe told me when I said how on-form Chris was. I got a chance to chat to Alec Dankworth afterwards - thorougly nice bloke; cycling enthusiast, too!

My next listening, for this afternoon 'cos I don't fancy exposing myself to today's heat, is a broadcast from the old Red Rose in Finsbury Park from 2001 of trombonist Nick Evans's Dreamtime. That was about the last time I heard Nick - in another venue not far from there; apparently fell prey to dental problems - fatal if irreparable for brass players. The Red Rose was a fantastic venue for improv and experimental jazz with its monthly Mopomoso sessions held in the old 1930s-redecorated music hall out the back - then turned into a pool or gambling club by new owners.
