Thanks. I’ll have a listen to that. Their recordings seem hard to come by. Couldn’t find a download and there’s only 1 import album on Amazon, and it’s £50.

I was listening to Eric Dolphy’s 'Out To Lunch' just now and looked the bassist up ....

(If you've already tried this and it didn't work, then nefarious influences of which I am unaware are at work!)
Ferneyhough, I have tried that, but every time I do it comes up with a red circle with an explanation mark which, I assume, means it doesn't like my image. It can't be that the size is too big because I've experimented with that, so I don't know what's happening.

And yet, when I come back to the posting, there's the image after all, when I'd just posted a URL. Eh?

Ah, that does it, thank you for the explanation, Oddball. I've used Photobucket often, I didn't realise that the direct load function was disabled!

Anyway, that sorted, I wonder what people feel about rhythm sections (and my choice of the 1st Herd one as the greatest). Or maybe I should start a separate thread on this - in fact, I will.

Django Bates's Quiet Nights, from a Jazz on 3 broadcast from Cheltenham Festival. Modernistic embellishments on standards, mostly.
