Today I am starting listening to yet another boxed set, this time it's Kenny Dorham - The Complete Albums 1953-1959. His oeuvre I am less familiar with. The first album is Kenny Dorham Quintet.
A live album from Tokyo 1990. People need to hear this! It is totally sublime, I have loved it since 2005, IIRC. Allan's tone is like diamond, just beautiful, and often things get exhilaratingly intense.
Donald Byrd (a young Herbie Hancock piano, his first Blue note date), "I'm a fool to want you". Just superb. From "Royal Flush" a very good album by any standards. This period of Byrd is great.
