Mike Osborne/Alan Skidmore Qrt, at the 100 Club, 1970.

This has just suddenly popped up in my You Tube feed from Mat Parker, a release of unreleased MO compositions. This is "Parallel". Remarkable good sound....

"Parallel" in fact does appear on at least one other recording, possibly under another title - fading memory means I'd have to go all though my collection to find out which. The altoist in the surrounding pics is of course Elton Dean. Already Ossie demonstrating his engaging in all senses practice of changing tempos, quoting, referencing knowingly and, not least, devising fresh folkish melodies at will, along with the seemingly infinite expandibility of both his and Skid's improvising vocabularies.

        !!!

The third Mahavishnu Orchestra live in Antibes, 1986. Not sure if this is on youtube since I am listening via facebook, here's the link:

Sounds like John does some downward sweeps in the first tune...

Art Farmer, "When your lover has gone" from a Prestige session in late 1956. "Two trumpets one alto" or similar. Barry Harris is on piano.

I think this really one of my Desert Island records. I first got it on a "twofor" reissue back in the late 70s. Beautiful interpretation.

Predictably enough now, the sixth disk of the aforementioned Charlie Parker box. By the look of the lengths of these tunes, this disk mostly consists of live recordings.
