I used to own it but it was stolen. Fortunately I have a download, courtesy of Richard Barrett.
A forlorn thought, probably, but I always hope that in possessing so precious an item, the thief will somehow benefit and thereby become a wiser person!
Jackie McLean - "Eco" from the Bluenote "Right Now!" with Larry Willis, Cranshaw and a ferocious Clifford Jarvis. It's a magnificent record, and to me, up there with the McLean/Moncur/Hutcherson Quintet. Jackie was incredibly powerful in this mid 60s period, just out of prison, and brilliant. "Jacknife" with Jack de J is in similar territory...
While wrapping presents, two of my all-time favourite albums - A Love Supreme live in Antibes and Interstellar Space, both by John Coltrane; though neither was listened to in its entirety.
Tenorist Rocky Boyd, who worked with Miles Davis Quintet for three months in 1961, with Kenny Dorham, Walter Bishop, Ron Carter & Pete LaRoca playing 'Avars' from Boyd's 1961 album 'Ease It':
Horace Silver Quintet - "Dragon Lady" from "Silver's Serenade" Bluenote 1963. The last studio album with the Junior Cook and Blue Mitchell front line and a wonderful way to close that edition, both playing superbly. It's a great album.

I am especially fond of this performance of this tune. I mean, I love Elvin but Roy Haynes is something else. It's really quite mystical, sends you into outer space if you're in the right frame of mind for it...
