More in the nature of a mash een! Or syncretism, as the philosophy buffs might say.

It's a nice record, if not at quite the heady-heights of his previous few albums … I've always thought it was a shame that John McLaughlin and Dave Liebman only played on the first track - so there's that, but also I find it sort of rhythmically inflexible when compared to something like Bitches Brew - but then, I've been known to occasionally listen to techno, so I can't complain about rhythmical inflexibility!

Did someone say 'let's have a washboard' number? S_A?

                    It's not skiffle though.

Wayne Shorter - Without a Net

Quickly found myself asking why it had been such a long time since I last listened to this - but then, the first tune 'Orbits' did apparently win a Grammy for best improvised solo. Currently on the second track, and I can see there is ecstasy aplenty in this...

I seem to recall there being something Messiaenesque about that album. Might stick it on once I've finished with Without a Net.

The Holdsworth Frankfurt record. Lots of the version of Looking Glass is especially magisterial, he makes the synthaxe sound particularly expressive.
