I reported from his concert last month at Semperoper Dresden. I don't normally do Jazz concerts but I was asked by the organisers to place it on my list. Such easy voice production. A Sunday morning concert on 11.00am I recall Porter from the stage saying how he was not used to performing during mornings. He has a particularly excellent tenor sax player Tivon Pennicott. I wasn't too aware of much Bible-Bashing in his set.

"Poor Eric" a heartfelt tribute to Eric Dolphy from pianist Larry Willis from Jackie Mac's " Right Now" album with a very beautiful moving solo from Jackie. Bob Cranshaw on Bass and Clifford Jarvis Drums.

Two improvisations played last night at iklectik by (left to right) Eddie Prévost, John Edwards and N. O. Moore (drum kit, string bass and guitar, respectively. Giovanni La Rovere was making a multi-mic recording for future commercial release, but I was allowed to make a single point stereo recording for my personal use (Zoom H5, using the integral cardoid mics). There are about a dozen points where the limiter had to kick in (just marginally) to avoid clipping, but you'd be hard pressed to detect them (mainly some of Eddie's rim-shots). The 44.1/24 results sound pretty good to me. Great playing by all three. This is a keeper. Look out for the the release (probably on Matchless) of Giovanni's recording, when it comes.

Many thanks for taking the trouble. Looking forward to a release of this, if & when.

Incidentally, I've just been listening to the sickest jazz album of them all, Bitches Brew.
