Columbia (1965)But no one can take away Miles Davis's first solo, on the title track, which has surely to be one of the the most euphoric, life-affirming improvisations ever captured in recording. And nobody else disappoints in the wake of that - which was expecting a lot. Something similar happened when Nikki Iles had to follow Mike Walker at one of Stan Sulzmann's gigs at the "old" Vortex, back in the good ole days: I had to stop myself going over and hugging her!
