JRR Saturday 19.9.15 - one especially great choice

People may not know that Calum has been through serious illness, and he emailed me this morning to pass on his best wishes to fellow boredees, having only just checked his computer after several months off-line.

We should all wish him well for a good recovery.

Good news - I did wonder.

I thought of Calum when the Banjo thread appeared recently. We all know how he loved that jolly joker and I'm glad he can enjoy its sweet tones once more.

It is brilliant to see that my friend Calum is back on the "bored." He has been really missed and is a particular soul-mate for me sharing a lot the same tastes and always willing to acknowledge the full gamut of jazz. I am really pleased that is has returned to his spiritual home and look forward to his generous and informed contributions.

Alyn says he will try to JRR schedule Ran Blake/Jeanne Lee's "Summertime" (Newest Sound Around, RCA*) for Calum in about a months time.

An optimistic, adventurous and accessible reworking. IdeaI IMHO.

I like to try and listen to the programme while cycling round the Park by way of a Saturday afternoon constitutional (that'll be easier now it's at 4pm )... I don't mind admitting that the Calibanopede had to be brought to a halt on Rotten Row and manly tears wiped away listening to the lyrics of that song choice for that listener
