    Lou Donaldson RIP

Probably common knowledge now but here's Fordham's obit in the Graun: https://www.theguardian.com/music/20...ldson-obituary

    RIP.

Personally not that familiar with his soul-jazz albums but I have always liked his bop playing, such as the Birdland LPs with Art Blakey. Cool playing on this absolute classic:

There are some cracking interviews in All About Jazz with Lou Donaldson. He was really opinionated but in a way that is funny. His remarks are often outspoken yet offer some fascinating insight on players like Clifford Brown and John Coltrane. I find them to be amusing.
