Well today's J to Z was quite something - and I mean that positively! The fact that this programme so often divebombs makes it one that I would guess many bordees now avoid. I always choose to clamp my ears around it just in case it turns out OK. Maybe I'm a sucker for Gilles Peterson's enthusiasms, but apart from anything else he did a sterling favour for 1960s British jazz in introducing young fans coming in on Working Week and Neneh Cherry to the really vital stuff going on previously, back in the day, and I thought his choices today were pretty good. For best track it would be easy to go for Shorter's Armaggedon (spelling?) so instead I'm plumping for the following one, Meshell Ndegeocello's funk re-holstery job on Sun Ra's Virgo.
