The French announcer's intro for the band on the Antibes LP still tickles me to this day:

"Quartet de Miles Davis, avec Georges Collemanne au saxophone ténore; Airbie Ancoque au piano; le jeune Tonnie Williams à la batterie - (il a dix-sept ans); Ron Cartaire à la contrebasse; et Miles Devisse".

I've got a cd of a Bill Evans trio concert in Paris, I think 1965. Recorded by French Radio for broadcast. After Scott Lafaro, the trio with Chuck Israels on bass, for me a fine replacement. After him, not so much.

Anyway the high spot for me is the French introduction to the tracks..."the Bill Heavens trio with "Oow deeps is thee oceaaans"

          Magic.

That's the one! I think it also has a couple of New York bonus tracks, including "Nardis".

Certainly enjoyed the documentary, which proved most informative. Carter comes across as likeable, but unwise to get on the wrong side of! - one recalls his rebuff to Ian Carr's describing him as the anchor of Miles's second quintet. So sad to learn about his losing of his son, Myles.

Might see if we have this channel so I can record it.

Just finished watching it and I enjoyed it. Sad that his son Myles died though - and seeing Carter's stoic forbearance. And I had noticed that Ron Carter started having more of a presence on social media (facebook) than he had done before which I think continued after (or should that be 'after') the pandemic. But I thought the documentary gave a nice gist of the flavour of Mr Carter's personality - and buoyed me up somewhat for practising my own instrument which I think wasn't entirely because I would have been playing for the two hours the documentary lasts anyway, had I not been watching it.
