Here's a review of their Glasgow concert from a couple of nights before the Jo3 one: http://www.heraldscotland.com/arts-e...club-1.1094312 I was at it and enjoyed it a lot. It's what once upon a time would have been called fusion, of the Weather Report interesting tonal colours variety rather than the Mahavishnu Orchestra fast twiddly solos one.
Eberhard's previous projects include a set of Ornette Coleman tunes with Aki Takase and a set of Eric Dolphy tunes with her 4-horn quartet Potsa Lotsa. She's mainly an alto player but also does interesting stuff on clarinet. I was impressed enough by her playing to buy her latest trio effort, "What a Beauty Being" and although I've only had time to play it a couple of times I'm very taken by it. It's exactly the sort of free-ish jazz her interest in Coleman and Dolphy would suggest without being merely imitative.

It should maybe be pointed out that the Jo3 performance is NeWt with Silke Eberhard as an extra horn player, not a Silke Eberhard gig. Just because you like/dislike this set, it doesn't mean you won't dislike/like her own stuff.
