    Tres bon!

Wilbur Hardin had a really tragic life. He had "mind problems" and was only later able to record a few sides on a Curtis Fuller Bnote date.

    Lovely melodic player.

    BN.

I recently bought the Tommy Flanagan avid reissue of four of his albums just to get the Hardin album " The King and I" - unfortunately no where near the standard of his work with Trane, Curtis and Yusef Lateef. One of those crappy commercial sessions - lets try and make a jazz album out of totally unsuitable material. Tommy and Wilbur make a valiant effort but are ultimately defeated.

Love " Wells Fargo" from the On West 42nd street album on Savoy.

A mate has just tipped me to a William Parker date in May at Café Oto.
Dunno if that lights any fires 'round here.

Apols if this is in another thread.

Just read the BBC website page. The TV stuff is pretty much all very easy listening rather than real jazz. The Jazz 625 programme will be interesting, but why not show the whole programmes that are still available?

Some of the radio programmes look atractive, but on the whole it's seems to be the sort of easy listening music that people who don't like jazz think jazz is. How disappointing.
