I don't think that answered the question about Darby and Derek. If you consider me one of 'the same set of characters', I'm surprised: I hardly every express an opinion on the subject - merely a sigh each time it's revisited.

Seldom have I seen such a lack of logic! Entirely different tar-brushes. I myself found the times thrilling, because I was wise enough, or lucky enough, to side-step the many threats. But my post about monetary compensation - long overdue - relates not to me in any way, but to those unfortunate British gentlemen who did end up in prison, and for long terms, and still have a "criminal record." According to the Guardian recently there are if I am not mistaken about six thousand survivors of this treatment, whose entire lives must have been blighted. Not many, but far more deserving of our sympathy and shame than those moderns who want to get "married."

I repeat: forget the present "reforms" - attend first to righting the injustices of the past! All the elderly gentlemen are waiting!!!

Sad as it may seem to some, when the law itself comes to be deemed as having been fault and that justice was dispensed correctly under its terms (however flawed those terms come later to be regarded), there are rarely realistic opportunities for retrospective application.

It is, however, one of the few topics where it's generally felt necessary to start a new discussion because someone in the news has said something new. Especially when it is fairly obvious that the discussion will descend into the same otiose exchanges.

Taking the thread topic literally as it now stands, wouldn't the potential success or otherwise of same sex marriage as a UK commerical export be to some degree dependent, like all others, on the state of the British pound in relation to the currencies of any countries to which such export be made or attempted? - and mightn't one have expected Mr Cameron, of all people, to have been well aware of this beforehand?
