Have they given up updating the playlist? Martin Handley played Frescobaldi performed by Richard Lester on Saturday but it’s still not on the list. Rob has just played Antonio de Cabezón which is not on the list now but I suppose I can’t expect to see it even later.

They don't do any updating over the weekend. Perhaps it will all be up at noon when today's playlist is supposed to be done. I have known Friday's list not to be updated until Monday.

I thought it a little odd this morning at approx 9.10 that a trailer was run on R3 for a programme on R4 concerning the Official Secrets Act. That programme had been running for 5 minutes already on R4 - but as it sounded more interesting than the usual wash of "favourites", I switched over.

Not sure that was the intention!

like other unwanted pop(pap for PS!) + pop djs such can find a home on R3 as (a) this station no longer has a clear direction (b) its controller likes personal publicity - the classical charts also can cover a bit of payola as no details of the selection mechnanism nor of the amount 'sold' are published

but you know that it is intended for 'first time listeners' and judging from the few minutes I hear before switching off my alarm is designed not to engage any intellectual facutties - the music acting as the interlude between trails and other product placement deals - hence I guess the 'chart' fits in here too - I suspect 'in depth' comes from same stable as the 20 to 10 gram increase in chocolate ration.
