      Is shortening Sarah to Sara along similar lines, do you think?

      As long as we don't have to put up with extracts from either Beetho's or Vau Will's Past Symphonies, Schmidt's Book of 5½ Seals, Schub's Even-More-Than-Usually-Unfinished Symphony, Mahler's Kind Tot, Wag's Parsi (the Zoroastrian opera), Menot's Amahl and the Night Visitor, Cag's 3'59", Carer's A Symph of Two Orchestras or Monologues or be asked to listen to Sarah walk, the future of R3 should be assured.

      Anyway, isn't the Plane Suit the one that one reserves to wear when flying Ryanair?

          After the glorious opening of the Monteverdi mass we had a wordless segue into the Albinoni. I was so outraged that I yelled at the radio. This is almost deliberately tricking anyone who knows the mass into anticipating the next movement, then disappointing them (i.e. me!). Perhaps I should be grateful it wasn't Ella Fitzgerald. The least Rob/producers could have done was to have a back announcement and announcement in between. Nul points.

              ( For what it's worth I yell at the radio* almost constantly, Sometimes at R3 & very, very often at R4. R2 if on would be one continuous scream )

                Why is the segue often a positive listening experience with non-classical music but 'insensitive, crass and even vulgar' with classical ?

                    I don't think all segues in classical music need necessarily be insensitive; there might be some that wd be positively interesting and engaging. But to crunch straight from the sublime Monteverdi Vespers to the tawdry vulgar schmaltz of the Giazotto 'Albinoni' betrays a crass insensitivity which one is sad to encounter on Radio 3.

                      This is the New Radiotherapy. The programme is shortly to be rebranded Primal Breakfast.

                        Is it not a trifle tongue in cheek of Rob to play a version of Cole Porter's Anything Goes on Breakfast as he has just done?

                          Perhaps some listeners might find some of the repertoire on the programme over easy, though the presentation is rarely scrambled and little of the content could be accused of being poached from elsewhere; somehow I cannot quite imagine that extracts from Die Soldaten would go down too well on it, however...

                              OK: did I just hear S M-P describe Mozart's Piano Concerto no. 21 as "The Elvira Madigan"?
                              I know it was used in the 1967 film but I was never aware that the concerto had been christened that title either before the life of the Danish tightrope walker or after the film.
                              Checking the Wikipedia entry for Elvira Madigan I see there is this sentence:
                              The soundtrack features the Andante from Piano Concerto No. 21 in C (K 467) by Mozart, which is sometimes informally referred to as the "Elvira Madigan" Concerto.

                              Ah, now we know where the production staff at Breakfast get their info...

                                I wasn't listening to Breakfast so I cannot say, but I most sincerely hope not! What next? - the Space Odyssey that Richard Strauss composed in 2001?
