It's noticable that no-one has mentioned Thatcher, lesbians and gay men, and Clause (section) 28.
I was mid-way through writing a piece when I discovered this....
Matthew Todd: Feel free to admire her on the economy and Falklands. When it comes to LGBT issues, she threw gay kids like me to the wolves
Better put than I could have managed

I found that when you are lying in bed in intensive care OR sitting listening to Webern money matters very little indeed
pretending that somehow money ,whilst necessary for some things, should be the motivator for everything is rather stupid IMV
and will lead to a life of misery.
Fooling people into thinking that somehow everything would be better if it were run like a grocers shop was a neat trick but ultimately
an empty and futile strategy as one would hope that people would realise that what really matters (be it good cheese, Elgar or the ability to
walk again after being seriously ill) can't be contained or defined in that way. People who base their lives on "getting one over" will often end up
sad , lonely and bitter.........
