Oh GG, so you don't deny then that she and the nation showed guts to deal with the Argentinian aggressors so many thousands of miles away.

The multi pick-up conglomeration in free jazz/free improv that came to represent Crass did a quite recent return to The Vortex, where they'd previously had an end-of-monthly, a few months back, which I was unfortunately unable to get to. I think they still hang out in an old farmouse in the vicinity of Harlow, a welcoming for those wanting to drop in and/or maybe drop out.

A few hours or a few months, it will make no difference to the dead, but maybe offend some of the living.

I know people who suffered huge hardship under MT's policies, and others who benefited hugely (e.g. council home ownership which later saw handsome profits). In the case of Thatcher few modern politicans have so polarised a nation, so "extreme" responses are to be expected.

I don't think the world is that simple.
I don't see that theres much to admire in supporting unethical regimes when it suits and having wars with them when it doesn't......
Many bad things are preventable with collaboration rather than competition
Thatcher did a classic Henry V move (as repeated by others since)
Nothing like a war to get you elected .........so let it fester and allow it to happen so you get your own way and end up as a chapter rather than a footnote in history (just like Tony did and so on )

(and who cares about teenage conscripts anyway ? they are only "Argies" )

I don't think a "Nation" can show anything in the way you describe unless it's in some kind of "gor blimey didn't we all pull together in the blitz" kind of narrative.

Well, GG, I'm just trying to take things one at a time here, so you don't deny then that she and the nation showed guts to deal with the Argentinian aggressors so many thousands of miles away?

I really don't go along with that narrative at all
which (zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz) is not to say (AGAIN ) that it's ok to invade another country (and that includes Lebanon, Iraq, Afghanistan etc etc etc )
