Yes the point AH and RB try to make ref the men who were in her first few cabinets is so true....men who had served as officers in the WW2....men who had been in both MacMillans and Heaths govts and oppositions....just a quick look at Keith Joseph Wiki resume show what a deep bredth of experience he had (and philathropic actually I was surprised to learn)....these cabinets were full of resolve and MOST OF ALL the majority of them believed in Monetarism; there was no need to convince them , they were on board....and happy to take flak to get the job done....bong ching

Yes, 1982 was a very bad year for unemployment. I couldn't get a job anywhere. Only options were the Army, The Fire Brigade or The Police Force. I know all about it. So I got on my bike and did a stint as a London Fireman. Suppose that's a little too anecdotal and coloured for you.
