I expect our sartorially-savvy confrère went for something understated, such as this:

I suspect Mandy has his eye on one of these, rather hopefully in your average charity shop, particularly in York

There is a charity shop trawl thread (started by me), but it never caught on. Anyway, this is a legitimate place to make people green with envy, so you'll just have to lump it, won't you?

And Amy - my private evenings at home don't require any pepping up, thank you very much!

Are you proposing this as a bargain? If not then may I suggest you are wandering (amusingly) off topic.

Perhaps someone would care to start a "Just Gloating" thread.

Well you do seem to have a deep-seated and somewhat censorious interest in the lives of gay men, Mandy so I thought I'd meet you half way

It's only a bargain if he can get it home past Mrs Mandy, I guess hafod.

But I catch your drift and shall desist henceforth

Only talented and conflicted homosexual men, Amy (there has never been a talented homosexual who was not also conflicted): your own 'life' (if so it can be called) , needless to add, hold no interest for me.

Mrs. Mandy is the only stimulant I require....

The veil slips and a repugnant troll shines through.

You seem to have a highly imaginative understanding of the facts of homosexual life, Mandryka, especially of the hypothetical mass of conflicted men and women in that fold. Just for the record, like thousands of others I have never for a moment felt conflicted, and I think I was talented enough to do a complex job for 35 years, finding other skills since retirement that I didn't know I possessed.

I can only hope that Mrs Mandryka finds you a useful stimulant in return for your favours, it's nice to consider the needs of others, isn't it ?

What's that saying about protesting too much?

What do you understand by the term 'conflicted' Mandy, seeing as you're bandying it about here?

Tchaikovsky, Proust, Dirk Bogarde: all great at what they did, all resolutely stuck (of own free will, in DB's case) in the closet. Their self-disgust was a large part of their genius, I'd say.

If I shared their inclinations, though, I'd feel no compunction to share their....erm...closet.

I'm sure it's a bargain at any price.

Mandy, aren't you interested in conflicted heterosexual men?

One thing - these are your opinions, and yet you seem to stating them as facts...... generalisation, or what.

But even more intriguing, is this; What exactly is the point you are trying to make? Just thought I'd ask for clarification's sake.
