Sad, and rather diminishes those who so interrupt a solid ongoing exchange, such that next time you log on, you tend to scroll past those who do it regularly more or less every time you see their alias on screen.
Isn't the internet wonderful in that , unlike in the pub, one can simply scroll past the people whom one finds boring...........
I've complained about the disruption of threads by stupid and/or irrelevant posts.
And I could have complained about your anti-Catholic posts, in particular to your 'Paddy's Wigwam', but I didn't although it was hurtful
It seems, Simon, you have had a bit of a sense of humour bypass lately, you used to be more laid back, now it seems you have become somewhat of a precious flower who we tease at our peril.

Oh by all means don't hold back at having a go at me if you like. I'm very happy to defend the substance of what I write, or to adjust my views should someone make an effective counter-argument. Just don't pop up on every thread with silly comments.
As regards Paddy's Wigwam, that was discussed at the time. I wasn't aware you were a catholic, nor that it had hurt anyone. I'm surprised, because it's what I thought everybody else called it, and I first heard it years ago in Liverpool, but in hindsight I accept that it was indeed a comment that wasn't helpful, and so if it hurt you or anyone else, I apologize.
An excellent suggestion from FF in the original post.
Unfortunately, having read through the entire thread it seems to me that the penny hasn't quite dropped with one or two posters. This is the third or fourth time that FF has had to mention this subject and in increasingly warning tones. Her patience must be wearing thin. I know mine is.

"Constant referring." Hmm. That's interesting. Perhaps ff would clarify. I give full permission for the moderators to reveal any and all occasions that I have "referred" to them on this forum, and the subject matter, if they wish.
That way, the accuracy or otherwise of the above statement may be judged by all.

If one is considering my references to the Guardian, which I don't deny, it might also be interesting to count the number of times "Daily Mail readers" or "Sun readers" or "the Murdoch Press" have been mentioned...
"It works both ways, ff."
Indeed it does. But some seem to forget that!
:::::::::::::::::
You'll find that my antipathy towards the Murdoch media empire is backed-up by reference to particular instances of their anti-BBC stances and to their potentially illegal and actually illegal behaviour; whereas your anti-Guardian anti-left position is rarely explained at all.
As ff has said, "robust" engagement with the argument, or with the facts of the discussion, is what most of us are happy to accept,
This is quite disingenuous of you Simon. You frequently mock something that I have written, making vague reference to my inability to follow an argument or to understand what you have written and when I ask you for an explanation you don't reply, That's bullying, pure and simple.

Of course ...
I'd imagine that the huge majority of Catholics (especially in Liverpool) would roar with laughter at the not altogether inaccurate term for that utter eyesore of a cathedral ...
I'll probably dump this entire thread in the basement tomorrow, leaving it open for those who wish to continue arguing in private.
This is All-Souls' day, fellows, is it not?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
I'm happy for it all to be dropped. Hopefully, those involved will refrain from the behaviour that has annoyed so many, and we can all enjoy a better forum.
