    That's a bit condescending isn't it?!

Condescending? That wouldn't be the adjective I'd employ to describe someone stating a (presumably) honestly-held opinion.

I'm sure you realise, Gabriel, that not everyone likes every piece of music. On a forum such as this, they have the right to say so.

What adjective would you employ for this, I wonder?

(I think you should know that nobody has referred to the CathedraL as Paddy's Wigwam for many years - if they ever did.)

It's not the opinion that's condescending, it's the "I don't want to spoil anyone's fun..."

It's not condescending, but a usual and idiomatic part of an ongoing friendly conversation.
Pots, kettles and the colour black just by purest happenstance came into my head when I read your response......can't think why, but there you go.

Actually, that's quite offensive. But I won't say anything.

You being a past master at condescension, I'm not surprised

Oh, how about a fight? Who is best at condescension? Now then boys, line up, OK Roberts, if you must throw spoons in the Lady Chapel (go ahead but your RC background will count against you in Chorister of the Year), we don't appreciate that, sort of stuff on CE, you know, not quite what R3 listeners expect, Vicar of Rome (and his disciples)

The sound of many spoons being thrown on the floor was heard at Solemn Evensong for the Eve of St Luke this evening.

I doubt I'd have given it much thought. But "ordinary MB comment" seems to fit the bill.

Not so, I'm afraid. I received an email to remind me that the programme this week was from that very place. And that the music looked good too.

(P.S. even though - or probably because - you were in error, I see that you have attracted AMateur's support with your comment. I'm sure you will bask for days in the glow of such a renowned intellectual's admiration).

But you did. And went on to do so again. So don't tell fibs!

It wasn't offensive, it was irreverent, and meant to be.

I have strong views against the RC money-making machine and the glorification of its hierarchy, and will take a rise out of them as often as possible. Just as you have done, out of other things, over the years. So like it or lump it.

Simon is my intellectual superior of course - he thinks that 'ordinary MB comment' is an adjective

Oh will you just take your pathetic little comments away from these threads? Can't you see that people just laugh at your silly attempts to try to be clever?
