Can't be bothered to look at that link.

Still, here's another award for Sky Arts:-

Patriotism is supporting your country all the time, and your government when it deserves it.

"Sky Arts’ partnership with literature festivals in Cheltenham, Hay, Bath, Cumbria and Dublin, which collectively received the Classic FM Arts & Business sponsorship "

Arts & Business Awards “offer a blueprint to a new generation of engagement” between arts organisations and supporters from the business sector.

So which, in the above award, is the 'business sector' & which are the arts organisations? My guess would be that the latter are the literature festivals, which leaves Sky Arts as the business organisation. So, not really an award for its much-vaunted (by Pee anyway) arts programmes - indeed, as most (all?) are commercially-made DVDs there's not much to give an award to.

Sky Arts seems to be the channel which takes books seriously these days, with broadcasts from Hay, Cheltenham and other literary festivals - not to mention the excellent weekly book programme. Channel 4, which did so much in the past on books seems to have opted out.

BBC Radio 4 and BBC World Service both have several programmes about books, their authors and their readers. I would suggest that 'book programmes' are essentially radio programmes rather than TV programmes.

Bearing in mind the large number of R4 programmes (especially comedy) which later transfer to BBC television channels, it's surprising that Mariella Frostrup, who seems to be the "queen" of book programmes, has the television version of her R4 programme on Sky. (There could be a story attached which I do not know about.)
Her radio and TV shows are excellent, but I would suggest that there is something to be gained from seeing the authors being interviewed. MF does have a delightful way of interviewing too - gently probing, but she gets good responses. (Certainly not the Laurie Taylor/John Freeman approach.)

Perhaps Panini & Pee would like to praise the Guardian, which for many years was (still is?) a major sponsor of the Hay-on-Wye book festival.

Well, credit where it's due, Flosshilde; after all it was the Guardian that provided the quote in the OP, (before you turned it into a slanging match),praising Sky Arts. Or perhaps you see that as "advertising" as well. Fancy, your favourite paper praising Sky. I hope it's not all too confusing for you.

Good grief, Flosshilde. You really do come out with the most ridiculous nonsense. You seem to allow your pathological hatred of all things Murdoch to completely dull your senses.

Yes, Sky is a business. <D'Oh>

                                So is the BBC.

So is the London Symphony Orchestra.

So is the Royal Opera House.

                                So is Tate Modern.

                                So is ENO.

                                Do you understand??

Probably not. But it's worth a try.

And I repeat, even your beloved Guardian newspaper has seen fit to offer credit to Sky Arts.

Your dunderheaded obstinacy over this just makes you look extremely stupid.
