I find that remark to be in very poor taste.

Not as "poor taste" as mr Cameron i'm afraid
he should be ashamed of himself

Well of course, you've chosen not to quote the full 'remark' ...

"I'm not sure that that would help

some people don't learn by experience ! "

Cameron has presided over a Government whose actions would mean that people like his son and their families are severely disadvantaged.

As Kenneth Williams would have finished "ya great fool!"

I quoted the most relevant part, and the part that I thought was in poor taste. If Mr. GG had simply said, "Look what David Cameron's doing, some people don't learn by experience", then that would not have been so offensive. But to use a family tragedy such as this to score cheap points is, as I said, in extremely poor taste.

Whatever one thinks of Cameron's politics, there is no justification for such a cheap shot.

(Edit:- No comment on rollmill's post, Amateur? )

Cheap point or not it matters not
like I said for someone in his position to actively disadvantage people like his son is immoral , unethical and he deserves utter contempt for doing so

I guess you aren't the parent of a disabled child then ?

Well, I'll just have to take your word for that, won't I?

And I stand by my view that your comment was in poor taste.

                    Yes you will
if you can see down that far from your high horse ?
poor taste matters little to those this horrible man is causing to suffer
I only hope that every night when he goes to bed and closes his eyes he sees his son who died tragically young and maybe , just maybe he might gain an ounce of empathy or compassion for those he is causing to suffer as a direct result of his arrogance

                      Mr GongGong

You really do have a massive left-wing chip on each shoulder, which has virtually ruined this thread.

Readers are interested in what happened with the BBC and the ROH, not in your personal subjective and warped views on what Cameron is supposed to be doing to the disabled children in this land. Bile you have by the bucket-load: charity nill.

I am quite surprised that the Moderator has not stepped in and censored or deleted your unwelcome posts 129, 136, 152 and 157 virtually comparing Cameron to a second King Herod.

If you really think your particular views have any interest to people on a classical music board you can open a thread in Platform 3?

Where on earth do you get "left wing" from ?
                        no don't bother

and yes I do have plenty of bile for some very good reasons
whether they are "warped" or not

I am interested in the ROH BBC etc
but if you actually READ what I said
I was making a (OK very strong admittedly) point that having experience of something
doesn't necessarily mean that one understands it very well ................ you will find that it was our resident Cage expert and cyclist who found it offensive and I merely responded to him ............ which was probably a mistake on my part

Pee, that's about the most un-gracious & offensive comment I've seen on this forum . You really have excelled yourself.

Mr GongGong's original comment was perfectly understandable to anyone with two braincells to rub together. Cameron had made great play about how wonderful the NHS had been in regard to caring for his son, & how much he appreciated it. He then went on to support a bill which promises to destroy much of what is best about the NHS.

                              Thanks

I guess I unwisely used it as a good example of how having knowledge of something (i.e reading music, playing an instrument) doesn't mean that one automatically understands. To assume that because one has grade 5 theory that one would AUTOMATICALLY be a better conductor is daft IMV (or rather experience) ....... which is NOT to say that reading musical notation isn't useful or even necessary. I'm currently transcribing a score for someone who is blind, she can't "read" music but has "written" some great stuff !
