Speaking of which, this article sheds light on a matter which had previously puzzled me somewhat:
A similar piece in today's Sunday Times, which you won't have seen . Having had first hand experience of EU grants funding amazing environmental projects in Wales, I was similarly mystified. Mark Drakeford has spoken at the conference today and come out strongly for Remain.

Short article but it does seem to back the research up well. I wonder, though, whether there wasn't a similar situation in Cornwall. The Mebyon Kernyw* (I don't know literally) may well have been for Remain with the elderly retired voting Leave. Cornwall also a main beneficiary of EU funds.
*Just a designation for the native Cornish people, not the party!
In 2014, 600k English people lived in Wales, and 500 k Welsh people lived in England .
Where are these figures from, ts? Census returns? Was this people self-identifying as English or Welsh?
The English vote in Wales doesn't entirely cover it: Welsh-speaking areas such as Gwynedd and Ceredigion saw some of the highest remain votes in Wales. It is not a consistent picture, however, with the valleys in South Wales voting to leave despite benefiting most from EU funds. In Blaenau Gwent and Torfaen, about 60% voted to leave. (Sunday Times)

I was just making the point that there is more to the story than just the number of English living in Wales in terms of who voted for what. Though I accept that the English vote quite possibly moved the Welsh result from something like 50/50, if one counted the votes of Welsh people living in Wales, to the 52/48 that Wales returned, I think.

It’s a bit rich to complain about the votes of people who have made use of the freedom to move to live in Wales skewing the voting there. I’m sure there would be a justified outcry if Farage claimed that immigrants voting for remain skewed the vote in London.
The only requirement for voting in a particular area is that you live there, not that you can trace your ancestry back to Owain Glyndwr (if in Wales), or Oliver Cromwell in England.
"I do not approve of anything that tampers with natural ignorance. Ignorance is like a delicate exotic fruit; touch it and the bloom is gone. The whole theory of modern education is radically unsound. Fortunately in England, at any rate, education produces no effect whatsoever. If it did, it would prove a serious danger to the upper classes, and probably lead to acts of violence in Grosvenor Square."

Ah yes, I'd forgotten the question in the 2011 Census.
My MP told me in an exchange of emails that 58% of people in our area voted leave. Fair number of incomers hereabouts. Me, I'm a bit of a statistical outlier
Indeed....what I think he was trying to tell me is that I'm in a minority among the 1500 or so people who write to him (he says).
It might be worth pointing out to him that there is a difference between a delegate and a representative
maybe Mr Pee and his dictionary would be useful ?
