      .

... if I were a Mexican with a boat, presumably I could go from Ensenada or Tijuana up towards San Diego / National City in California - or from Matamoros towards Brownsville or Corpus Christi in Texas, and drop off in the dark unseen...

How many miles of wall will have to be built up the western and eastern coastlines of the United States??

It's beginning to sound like fun! Tunnels would be like The Great Escape.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

An alternative could be this launch pad attempt:

mexican party 11.08.07. pete and his foam donkey surfing.

Somebody on TV this morning suggested that the only reason Theresa May is the first foreign leader to meet Trump is simply because no other leader, especially Angela Merkel, was in any rush to meet him and the UK was probably the only country to apply.

I think it is also likely that Trump and the Republicans were just as anxious for one (anyone?) of their close allies to arrange such a visit in order to give them a bit more 'credibility' in the eyes of the world.

Frankly I cannot think of any two other major world leaders who, right now, lack any sort of credibility with their absurdly naive and old-fashioned nationalistic ideas like a Mexican Wall and Brexit. Only a few months ago both suggestions would had all serious folk rolling in the aisles.

                Frankly, they suit each other.

I would think there's much in that. More keen to distance themselves from him.

Word is from within certain parts of the US State Department that Trump himself expects to be impeached (how much will the GOP put up with?). At which point …

Donald Trump has set his plan for a US-Mexico border wall in motion. But who will end up paying for it?

'… he told the Washington Post: "It's realistic if you know something about the art of negotiating. If you have a bunch of clowns negotiating, it's not realistic."' So … guess what I'm thinking about here …

Theresa May urged to challenge President Trump on torture comments. Great idea - go over there to try and get some sorely needed business and introduce discussions by telling off for his bad behaviour! Why not just tell him we don’t do business with people who use torture, if we mean it!!??

I should imagine he would just refer to the forthcoming case for Jack Straw and suggest waiting for the outcome before giving any sort of lecture. Oddly, what he was saying was one of his more reassuring moments to date. In the small print, he said he would leave it to "experts" to decide which I didn't think he would be capable of doing in anything. He also whispered that they had to comply with the law if only just. It made me wonder if any decision on using the nuclear capability at any time might also be delegated to his "experts". I've heard rumours political accountability in that area rests with the Vice-President given that the President is temperamentally suited to economic and other matters.
