    Murdoch

I wonder just how much Cameron knew when he gave the ex-editor his 'second chance' (I cannot see given the now admitted extentof the hacks that the editor could have remained ignorant) - if so then maybe Cameron can be interviewed as an accessory to an obvious cover up.
How fascinating to come back and see a prime example from Frances - often one of the most scientifically-minded and rational of posters - of how a desire to believe something can lead to one of the most outrageously logically-flawed posts of recent months.

Starts off with "I wonder", goes through a "cannot see" via a "could" to an "if so then maybe" - and then has the brass face to end end with "obvious". It's almost brilliant.

If that's the standard of the first post on the thread, I bet I'm in for a treat further down, aren't I?

I rarely have a problem with the recounting of the facts from you Lat - I live and work in the real world and I know how it works.

It's the interpretation of them that sometimes worries me!

Welcome again by the way. Where have you come back from? My appointed Director of Talk Services, Rachael de Flaunt, has been attempting to hack into your mobile but so far she has only been able to advise "it wasn't Cuba or North Korea".

She's right, Lat! Good to be back, even temporarily. I've been swanning around Arabia - but only the safe bits! :cool2:

                Or...
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

                    FF.

As you know I have a few people on "ignore". I consider them not worth interacting with - not merely because I disagree with them - (I disagree with others but would not wish to avoid reading what these others write, as from such people one can often learn) - but because I find their level of discussion to be worthless. In addition, I have found many of their posts in the past to be at best irrelevant and infantile and at worst downright unpleasant.

I've found that it's good to be able to read through threads without having to be bothered wading through stuff written by these people, and in addition to preventing waste of time it also avoids unpleasantness: I won't respond to posts I haven't read, obviously.

So it rather defeats the object if others quote the replies of these people to my posts. In future, therefore, I'd be grateful if you would refrain from so doing.

I also have a feeling of unease when one of these people in particular, who is openly homosexual, continues to "reply" to my posts wherever I go, with terms that I find distasteful - as exemplified in the one you quoted above. I can't imagine what worth you found within it and quoting it seems to me to be completely against the spirit, on the board, that you have expressed elsewhere a desire to inculcate.

I hope you aren't going to join in with this nonsense
or are we all supposed to gain the profs approval before we are permitted to participate in discussions ?

it was so much more convivial while he was away

In his post above Simon goes even beyond his Daily Mail parody. I find his posts, on the whole, distasteful & would be grateful if everyone would refrain from quoting from them or referring to them.

Hmm, what future for the boards if we all refrain from quoting from or referring to posts we don't happen to like or disagree with?

In an effort to avoid further waste of time and space on the server, those whose posts I am relieved to say I cannot read are, in alphabetical order, Amateur51, Flossie and GongGong.

So don't keep "replying", people. I ignore you. Result: happier life. Go with it!
