As you know I have a few people on "ignore". I consider them not worth interacting with - not merely because I disagree with them - (I disagree with others but would not wish to avoid reading what these others write, as from such people one can often learn) - but because I find their level of discussion to be worthless. In addition, I have found many of their posts in the past to be at best irrelevant and infantile and at worst downright unpleasant.

I've found that it's good to be able to read through threads without having to be bothered wading through stuff written by these people, and in addition to preventing waste of time it also avoids unpleasantness: I won't respond to posts I haven't read, obviously.

So it rather defeats the object if others quote the replies of these people to my posts. In future, therefore, I'd be grateful if you would refrain from so doing.

I also have a feeling of unease when one of these people in particular, who is openly homosexual, continues to "reply" to my posts wherever I go, with terms that I find distasteful - as exemplified in the one you quoted above. I can't imagine what worth you found within it and quoting it seems to me to be completely against the spirit, on the board, that you have expressed elsewhere a desire to inculcate.

Poor Simon is getting all pupset and confused at the same time - "I also have a feeling of unease when one of these people in particular, who is openly homosexual" - aside from the homosexual panic he evinces (must be all that time in Arabia) his statement is not definitive. As far as I am aware, there are TWO openly 'homosexual' members of his Particular Fan Club

There really should be some way of preventing people who are intent on being this unpleasant from seemingly being able to lay down that law in what is intended to be an open discussion ?

Simon, the world (not even the Board world) doesn't revolve around you. If Mr GG, Am51 & I reply to one of your posts, it isn't for your benefit, but the benefit of other board members. If you choose to 'ignore' those people who quote us, I think you'll be reduced to reading a fairly small group of posts.

As i am personally offended by the letter X i would ask all posters to bear in mind that I am now ignoring that letter. It's childish, feeble minded and unnecessary so I would appreciate it if from now on everyone would remember this and not refer to it in any posts that I might read. Otherwise I might be forced to take this stuffed Eeyore and throw it out of my infant carriage

the constant gardener has had only a few zillion reruns on the itv extra night time slots lately, whatever its other merits and debits the movie is a case study in paranoia in the sense of just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you .... I don't possess, by choice, a supermarket loyalty card because I don't want to convenience Mr Sainsbury. However I take great delight in offering my points to the Somali family behind me in the queue, sometimes it's a single mother, etc etc. It feels so nice to know that the pooter has stored my porky choices as belonging to some most unlikely people
