I've done MUSIC in some of those schools
erm surely that's not allowed ?

What one reads in the press and what actually happens might be very different
    Or it might be close
BUT all we REALLY know is that we DON'T know

Well, perhaps not your alien music, but your (and other) deliberate attempts to derail anything vaguely patriotic or British, have worked to get us here.

Although I do understand people who have not done well under the present system and are not big stakeholders in life, will not be as positive about things like Remembrance Sunday, but spitefulness doesn't really achieve anything.

People with low self-esteem, and who feel life has given them less, should spurn the temptation of spite, and take a more positive course in life.

          Don't be an arse
When I hear that music I feel more connected to "my" culture than anything by Elgar

          What's with the "low self-esteem" shite ?

I haven't taught in Birmingham myself, so I don't comment on it.

And please don't use the F-word, even here.

Reported post - I won't bother to delete it, but the thread has become useless. Basement.

Oh, it's already in the basement. In that case ... it may go to diversions. What a load of rubbish.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

                            18 July
Birmingham City Council releases key findings from its inquiry into 25 schools.
Written by Ian Kershaw, it finds no evidence of violent extremism, radicalisation or an anti-British agenda being promoted. However, it does warn of governance problems in some schools.
                            22 July
Peter Clarke's report for the DfE is officially released.
Mr Clarke said his inquiry found no evidence of extremism but "there are a number of people in a position of influence who either espouse, or sympathise with or fail to challenge extremist views".

The famous anonymous letter which set it all in motion is probably in the same category as the Protocols of the Elders of Zion and the Zinoviev Letter.

Meanwhile extremist Christian schools are allowed to carry on without investigation.

                              The report found

"......disturbing" evidence that people with a "shared ideology" were trying to gain control of governing bodies in Birmingham...."

"...... sustained and co-ordinated agenda to impose upon children in a number of Birmingham schools the segregationist attitudes and practices of a hardline and politicised strain of Sunni Islam".

"......co-ordinated, deliberate and sustained action to introduce an intolerant and aggressive Islamist ethos into some schools in the city".

The agenda would have confined....... "schoolchildren within an intolerant, inward-looking monoculture that would severely inhibit their participation in the life of modern Britain".

All of this in a non-faith state school.

My point was that whilst people go bananas about Gove, they remain silent on these matters.

                                To quote you
                                maybe it's a "side issue"
                                You know, not important
You know, like having the Royal Family
having Remembrance day turned into a military celebration of killing

                                You are "over thinking"

People aren't "silent on these things" at all

                                How is this

"schoolchildren within an intolerant, inward-looking monoculture that would severely inhibit their participation in the life of modern Britain"

different from what happens in Catholic schools ?

Secular education would be a start
BUT with dicks like Gove (and his moronic successor) there's no chance of that
