    Haas and Ligeti being trailed

It's good to hear a Hear and Now prog being trailed quite widely on R3:
Radio 3's primary contemporary music programme, featuring live performances and sessions

    Sat 18th at 1015pm
Don't know Haas's In Vain, but am looking forward to Ligeti's Violin Concerto.

Thanks for flagging that , Ards.

Those lucky enough to be present at the Haas concert tell of great things.
I was present at the Ligeti concert, so er, that will be intereresting.
A shame they couldn't have found room for " San Fransisco Polyphony" from the same concert, which was really excellent. Perhaps it will turn up in another chunk.
I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

I am not a number, I am a free man.

I watched Rattle do In Vain live on the Berlin DCH, complete with the Hall going into pitch darkness and back to bright light. An experience definitely worth having, if only the once... there is a CD of another performance with Klangforum Wien and Cambreling on Kairos.

Haas's piece seems to have become a bit of a cult, but don't let that put you off...

I think it is important to be clear on our Haas ! This being of course GF Haas and not the marvellous Pavel Haas of the superb quartets who was murdered by the Nazis at Auschwitz .

Indeed. Nor the Haas who edited the Bruckner symphonies.

Agreed - watching it on the telly is something one might not need to repeat too often, but the experience of being at the actual concert, well that's another matter altogether

                          - took me a moment, that!

Anyway, which "Ligeti" is it? Andras, Lucas or 't'other one?
