    Graham Fitkin July 20th H&N

Whole prog really worth catching on 28th in repeat.
The Fitkin Cello concerto is particularly arresting and brilliantly played by Rafael Wallfisch and the BBCNOW.
Love to hear it played by its dedicatee Yo Yo Ma.

    Many congrats to Mr Fitkin.

    Thanks, DracoM.

I've really got to enjoy the music of Mr Fitkin, since he abandoned the post-Glass idiom of his early works in favour of greater complexity and emotional depth.

I didn't know he had! Thanks for this info, and to DracoM for his OP - I shall give this a listen.

A message received by email 'anent':

"Having been impressed enough by the World Premiere of Fitkin's Cello
Concerto at the Proms in 2011 to write to BBC Music Magazine suggesting it
as a cover CD (it was a BBC commission), to no avail (not even a response),
I was annoyed to have missed the recent performance that DracoM has drawn
attention to on the Hear and Now thread. But I see no evidence of a repeat
on 28 July that is mentioned.

However, I did find this, which DracoM might be interested in (I assume that
it is pukka and could be published as a link): a recording of that premiere
        with Yo Yo Ma."

[I'm not sure about publishing the link - but will be supplied on demand.

Could someone clarify the 28 July repeat ref, pl? - ff]
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

The programme broadcast on the 20th is available on the i-Player until the early hours of the 28th - perhaps that's what was meant?

Apologies if this is incorrect. However, it was given out by the CA.

I think it must have been the iPlayer ref - it's available until early on Sunday morning. I've emailed the enquirer to that effect.
