    Stefano Scodanibbio 1956-2012

Forumistas will be sad to hear that the great Bassist died on 8th January at the age of 55 after battling with motor neuron disease.

He gave the first performances of Ferneyhough's Triptych per GS amongst other many other new works, but perhaps this composition of his own is more appropriate here:

Confession: I had not heard of Stefano Scodanibbio until this obituary notice.

However, I enjoyed the piece that you linked to, ferney & I now find that there is a lot of his playing on Spotify which I shall explore.

    Many thanks

        Amazing the jogging of memory...
I just found "six duos" by Scodanibbio on New Albion 113 CD... ( bought in 2001 - thank god I filed it alphabetical just for once...) I'll make it my bedtime choice on the Tivoli - probably first chance I'll get to listen anyway.
Lovely titles like "Western Lands" and "Composte terre" for various combos of db/cello, vn/cello, vn/db etc... thanks fhg, would never have thought of it otherwise.

Tax and business dominate... but a positive start to 2012! Careful now...
