The Crane flies in, but no leather jackets on the air for this weekend!

    Sat Aug 15
    10pm - New Music Show

Tom Service presents new lockdown commissions for the Riot Ensemble as part of its ongoing Zeitgeist project. Featuring percussionist Sam Wilson in a work composed by Aidan Teplitzky, bassoonist Ruth Rosale performing music by Zoë Martlew and pianist Claudia Racovician in a piece by Carmen Ho. But first there's music by Laurence Crane and the world premiere of songs by Michael Hersch from texts by Iraqi poet Fawzi Karim.

Laurence Crane - Estonia, Royal Northern Sinfonia

Michael Hersch - The Script of Storms (first performance), Ah Young Hong (soprano)
BBC Symphony Orchestra, conductor Tito Muñoz.

Hersch's Fawzi settings contain graphic descriptions of war, it says in the above, which also lists other works not mentioned in the RT write-up.
