    I have long been a big fan of Holliger, both as composer and oboist - musically, this is going to be The Big Event of The Week for me.
    The whole programme looks very enticing. I see the Holliger is from a performance last December. I wonder if Hyperion had a tie-in recording made?

      Mmm, I have the ECM recording of the violin concerto played by Thomas Zehetmair (also HH's Romancendres and Gesänge der Frühe; and K297B & K314 with the maestro playing). Not played for a while, must give them a spin this evening.

        Would have thought that John Butcher et al might naturally fit within the ambit of Freeness. Not that I'm complaining; I'm happy to see some intermingling or crossover between the two programmes.

          Hopefully the New Music Show with offer somewhat longer examples of their work. I find the brevity of the items played during Freeness a right pain.

            Yep - that's one of the programme's.......... shortcomings.
