    Open Ear; NMS, Sat 10/8/19; 10:00pm

    A recording of a concert given at LSO St Luke's on 27th October last year (which probably explains why Sara Mohr-Pietsch is presenting: blessed relief!)

    Larry Goves(b1980 - NB the plural)'s ensemble House of Bedlam play

    Mette Nielsen(b1985)'s Slow Race
    David Fennessy(b1976)'s Small brown spots
    Amber Priestley(b1973)'s Abroad to beg your bacon
    ... and two works by Goves himself happy/fat/boomf; and Untitled (Music for melody instruments, bearing balls, corks and electronic sounds)

    Interspersed with these works, percussionist George Barton & pianist Siwan Rhys play Betsy Jolas(95 on Monday)'s Music for Joan; and the 8th Movement from Oliver Leith(b1990)'s good day good day bad day bad day;
    Soprano Jessica Aszodi performs Jennifer Walsche(b1974)'s GLORI, Liza Lim(b1968)'s If the Sea is Destined and When I whet the knife (from 'Atlas of the Sky'), and Natasha Anderson(b1968)'s More;
    and two Improvised sets from BirdWorld ((Gregor Riddell, cello & electronics, and Adam Teixeira, drums & percussion).

    Sara Mohr-Pietsch hosts an Open Ear concert of cutting-edge new music.

    As the Thread has gone quiet, I thought I'd post this:

      I have not, as yet, got round to listening again to this programme but I did enjoy attending the concert it was recorded at. Especially good to hear the Betsy Jolas. More, please.

        If that is what is required to restore sanity to the New Music slot, then I'm happy to join the other inmates of House of Bedlam (which includes Tom McKinnie).

        There was a time when SMP was the cat's meow in Radio 3 - a pity her star has diminished somewhat.

          She has recently been appointed the Artistic Director of the Dartington International Summer School & Festival - I'd call that going supernova!
