I once heard the horn section of the SNO fart during a performance of a very forgettable 20thC piece in the Usher Hall circa 1978.

Is it true that Andre Rieu is about to release a CD comprising variations on Mr Cage's piece?

Yes but he's keeping it quiet - we may never hear it!

            A late convert to 4' 33''.

Du holde Kunst might be a suitable follow-on piece: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bZZqZTKoFcM

Does anyone know if Cage (and his estate) got income from performances of the score?
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

The Music is under copyright to Peters Edition, so I presume that the usual PRS conditions apply.

I've only heard this once - at Bangor University in 1971. The pianist divided it into three movements, indicated by quietly closing the lid after each one. (He was a lousy pianist, but a very singer.)

Can you hum (silently of course) any of the tunes?

Unfortunately I didn't manage to memorise them. But I did like the pianist's new clothes.

This is, I think, recommended in one of the editions of the score. In 1971, of course, the piece was a mere 19 years old. It's now nearly getting on for 70. Not bad wear at all for New Clothes.
