Listened via "Sounds" to the recording of the live event this morning. I clearly had the level turned down far too low for the Eastman, which somehow has been missed off the "Music Played" list. I will listen again later, with the level up to a more realistic level (might even drown out the neighbours' thud, thud bass of their electro-pop.

Like those Advent Calendars with a chocolate bar for each day - you are always hoping for a Mars Bar but sometimes it is a Malteser.

For me the highlights of this programme were Alex Hawkins's reading of the two short Braxton piano pieces, and his own inspired, almost felicitous improvisation. And I've never heard John Butcher play better than in his improvisation with Okkyung Lee. But Alex has turned out to be a real giant - astonishing prowess. Britain seems to have been good at producing fine exponents of free jazz/free improv piano over the years!
