Recorded at Kings Place (without the queueing for refreshements) last month, Kate Molleson presents a concert given by the Riot Ensemble.
Lee Hyla (1952 - 2014): We Speak Etruscan (1992) for Bass Clarinet & Baritone Saxophone
Helga Arias Parra (b1984): Incipit (2015) for "Pierrot Ensemble" (Flute, Clarinet, Piano, Voice, Violin & 'cello)
Sarah Nemtsov (The Beeb's website spells her name incorrectly)(b 1980): Central ParkManhattan or Landzunge / New Jersey (2011) for Piano (dbl Melodica), piccolo, viola, & percussion
Philip Venables (b1979): Nos 91 - 95 for flute, harp, Low Woodblock (optional), & speaking voice (who also operates two tape recorders); settings of poems by the late and much-missed Simon Howard (Forumista, John Skelton).
Venables' Illusions was also played in that concert, but this isn't mentioned on the Beeb website; instead (or, very possibly, "as well") a performance by the Goeyvaerts Trio of Klang for String Trio and Ring Modulator by Wolfgang von Schweinitz is included in a recording from The Book of Hours Festival in Co Louth. (I think that this is the same work as Plainsound String Trio KLANG auf Schön Berg La Monte YoungStimmübung im Lobgesang from 1999-2000 - if so, with the composer's estimated duration of 45 - 60 minutes, it will take up the bulk of the programme.)
