John Croft: "Lost Songs"; H&N, Sat 4/8/18; 10:00pm

A recording from last year of the Birmingham premiere of John Croft(b1971)'s Lost Songs for soprano and live electronics, with the rather magnificent Juliet Fraser and the "not so bad yourself" Sound Intermedia.

Oh, and some recentish, mainly "Proms-Commission"-type Orchestral works to fill in the rest of the programme from Charlotte Bray(b1982), John Hopkins(b1949), Diana Burrell(b1948), and Thomas Hyde(b1978). The BBCSSO is conducted by Geoffrey Paterson:

The BBC SSO performs works by Charlotte Bray, John Hopkins, Diana Burrell and Thomas Hyde.

One of the most interesting composers in the UK at the moment if you ask me.

I hadn't encountered his work before, either, and was moved and impressed. Definitely one to hear again (and again).

(Unlike the insipid orchestral pieces, which were of the type that you'd heard again and again long before they'd even been written.)
