Kate Molleson presents the first of three programmes from this year's Festival. The BBCScottishSO is conducted by the magnificent Ilan Volkov in three worrld premiere performances:
Naomi Pinnock(b1979) - The field is woven
James Clarke(b1957) - Untitled No.9 (BBC Commission)
Miya Masaoka(b1958): The Movement of Things
... a goofd programme for me; I'm a great admirer of James Clarke's work, and am glad to see a broadcast after far too long a period of neglect by the Beeb. Naomi Pinnock's work I know only from some early works from about ten years ago, which didn't hook me at the time, so I'm looking forward to hearing this most recent work ... and I don't recall ever hearing anything by Miya Masaoka, though I'm sure that her work has featured on a previous H&N.
Also on the programme, works for Ondes Martenot by the late Bernard Parmegiani(1927-2013), and Pascale Criton(b1954), played by Nathalie Forget. And Grand Dictaphonic Jaxx for tape players, dictaphones, and improvisers by Joe Posset.
