Rhodri Davies and Okkyung Lee on Late Junction, Thurs 5 April

    11pm Late Junction
Max Reinhardt presents new work by harpist Rhodri Davies and cellist Okkyung Lee. Plus: protest music by Philip Venables, an ascension song by Reverand Utan Smith and the first release on Apple Records.

With apologies for late flagging, and product placing it here, for want of a better Kevin Le. Davies and Lee have been around on the improv scene for quite a while - if you want to hear what a post-Alice Coltrane harp (the plucked kind) might have sounded like, the Welshman is your person.

Max Reinhardt and Late Junction doesn't get the attention he deserves on this Forum, imv. Although in the World Music slot, much of his music is contemporary classical or Jazz, and therefore not of prime interest to Worldies.

Yet for my money, he weaves together various strands of present musical genres at quite a high intellectual level, and the result is a highly cogent expression of the current musical scene

I realise I should listen to his programme more often. Usually it is just for something that's caught my attentiion in RT.
