    "Nouvelle Vague"; H&N, Sat 10/3/18; 10:00pm

    French for "vaguely new".

Manchester-based ensemble Psappha, together with members of the Royal Northern Sinfonia, play a smorgasbord of recently-written woks by ten young composers, mostly born or currently based in the North of England: Emma Wilde (b1991), Will Frampton, James Williamson (b1984), Lucy Armstrong (b1991), Robert Reid Allan, Bethan Morgan-Williams (b1992), Michael Cryne (b1982), Jack Sheen (b1993), Joanna Ward (b1998), and Charlotte Bray (1982)

Tom McKinney focuses on some of the next generation of British composers.

For pursuers on Google, this is distinct from the band Nouvelle Vague who have had more than a few innovative approaches of their own, not that it really needs pointing out.

Excellent musical entertainment. Unable however to comment on the musical quality.
