Half a programme this week, following the annual prattingaroundery - three more works from last May's Tectonics Festival in Glasgow: an improvisation for solo saxophonist Roscoe Mitchell (b1940) - which I'm greatly looking forward to, remembering how astonishing I found another of his improvisations broadcast on 20th May - a electronic duo improvisation by Australian-born, Stockholm-based John Chantier, and Glasgow-based Luke Fowler (b1978) - and Walkman Antiquarian by Thomas Meadowcroft, performed by piano & percussion quartet, Yarn/Wire, a work which uses samples from the composer’s father’s record collection in conjunction with a grand piano (and the 2013 premiere of which can be heard - and seen - here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CU6gaPHjVu4 )

I have not listened yet but am very much looking forward to hearing the Luke Fowler. I only know his film and other graphic work from Pilgrimage from Scattered Points and his Serpentine Gallery show.Comment
