    Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival; 17 - 26 November, 2017

The programme for this year's Festival has just been published:

... it's a beggur to navigate (every time you want to return to the page you were on, after clicking on an event to discover details, you're taken back to the first day's events and have to renavigate back to where you'd got up to) - and there are far too many events in Bates' Motel. But lots of goodies on offer - with an opening long weekend that I'm eagerly looking forward to! (There's even a piece by Colin Matthews this year - they follow it with Xenakis and Birtwistle in penitence.) Can't see Robert R Reilly queuing up for tickets - so that's another bonus.

Isn't that the spooky place where you run the risk of being murdered while taking a shower??

Far, far worse! It's the spooky place five minutes' walk from the town centre (in November) where you sit in every layer of clothing you have trying to hear the Music in a shite acoustic (to use the technical term) - which is only made worse if it starts to rain on the metal roof - and no hot drinks available.

There have been some fantastic gigs there where the weather's been kind (the UK premiere of Opening of the Mouth high amongst them) - but it's a venue I try to avoid. (And it's really called "Bates Mill". )

They never have quite got the hang of a really user-friendly site, have they?

In case it's of use, my distillation of the entire festival (including all pieces in each concert) is here: http://5against4.com/2017/07/28/hcmf...ete-programme/

                - a great help, indeed. Many thanks

Especially for the Monday freebies - which reminds me that I ought to start working out to get into shape for the various sprints across Huddersfield!
