Four days early, Hear & Now celebrates the 80th birthday of Argentinian composer, Beatriz Ferreyra with the composer introducing three of her works as performed last February at the Electric Spring festival at the University of Huddersfield ("Spring", "February" and "Huddersfield" in such close proximity being more a statement of hope than reality).
As far as I know, this is a unique opportunity to hear the work of this composer (of whom I hadn't previously heard) broadcast in this country, and the value is further enhanced by the presence of Ferreyra who introduces her work in conversation with Robert Worby. The programme is completed by the director of the Festival, Pierre-Alexandre Tremblay, who introduces some new recordings of work featuring composers and artists who have appeared at earlier Electric Spring events.
